Hello guys

another topic from me, and again.. another problem.


My radiator fan just keeps turn himself on when I turn te key ( not starting the engine )

I'm ******* around with this problem for 2 weeks, now I finally decided to once again throw this problem on some fora.

in the workplace honda manual on page 570 of 681, they describe some essential parts of the radiator fan system, but I'm missing them in my car.. I don't see the relay of the fan, the wires of it just disappear into a bigger wiring harnass.

But maybe I don't need it or I don't need to look after it.. So I'm stuck with some things.


problem : Fan starts when I switch to power while not starting the engine , so it's not that the sensor senses some heat or thing


probable solution : I don't know , maybe it's in the sensor, maybe in the connections to the sensor, anyways.. I need you to help me figure that out !

Seems pretty obvious that the fan is bypassing the thermo switch. Perhaps the switch went bad and someone hardwired the fan instead of buying a new one...who knows. Check the fan wiring. This was the case with my CRX before the fan went bad making all kinds of noise, now I have a manual switch. I found that I rarely need it running, except for when idling in warm weather.

 

The previous person that owned that car of your before, most likely ran the fan directly to the ignition switch. Reason being one of the sensors wasn't working, so it wasn't sending the message to the fan so the fan wouldn't turn on causing the motor to heat up.

I own the car for a year right now, and I always drove it with a Z2 ( a6 ) engine, fan always worked correctly.


Now I installed a A9 ( zc ) engine and it's fucked up...


The fan always turns on.


What do you mean with a : Thermo switch.. you mean the sensor?

 

he mans fan switch, which i think on this motor obd1 is on the thermostat housing. You have a cooling gauge or meter which is the single wire on the side of the head, Fan swich on the thermostat housing and the coolant temp. sensor swich 2 pin connector and or sensor on the side of the cylinder head.

I already found the sensor of the fan, but ehrm.. I never heard of that sensor fail.

so what can I check.. what can I do ?


btw, My engine is a D16a9, that's ob0 not ob1

And the sensor of the Fan is not near the thermostate, but on the back of the engine, next to the oil filter

you can replace that sensor or the coolent temperature sensor as well, it's green looking beneath your distributer

 

I already mensioned 4 times now that I know where the sensor is, I know what is does, I know how it looks like , hell... I even know how it smells.

But I would like a plan or something and not just change parts..

( NO, it's not cuz of the previous owner I have the car for a year now but I did a Engine swap, No I don't have to replace the coolant sensor cuz the coolant gauge works fine and No I don't have Obd1, I have Obd0.

Can someone with an idea help?
