I need to start over please help
I have a 94 civic ex and I have been trying to lower it for years and can never get it right. I first bought tokico illuminas. (5 was adjustable) with Eibach prokit. the springs were used and supposedly from a GSR, well the rear was way too high. but ride quality was nice
Got rid of em, then tried some sportlines (also used) didn't lower the car much at all IMO. so I said screw it, springs are not working for me, so I tried ebay coil overs. now I got the lowering I wanted, but ride quality was horrendous way too bouncy ok so I bought better quality coil overs with stiffer spring rates. which is what I have now.. OMNI coilovers.
Its like 336/448 or something. and no matter what I set the strut to, its really stiff, I raised the car enough to have about 2 inches of gap and its still too stiff. I want a good compromise, if I can get it lowered and ride close to the eibach springs I will be happy. I want to change the struts too. but what should get? is there a differnt brand of lowering springs that I should look into? I hear that springs gives you the better ride quality that coil overs. oh and I am thinking of KYB struts. TIA.

if you dont need external adjustability, H&R sports combined with Koni special 'red' shocks makes a good combo. It doesn't lower your car so much where bottoming becomes an issue, and where binding becomes an issue with the front upper control arm. The rates on the H&R sports are decent too, they ride nice.
I'm guessing that you were so low on those cheap ebay coilovers that you were actually hitting your bumpstops.
