Default I found gold? :D

So I bought my 91 CRX SI for $900 delivered.. it runs fine.. but every panel on it is pretty beat...

So anyhow Ive been seeing a white CRX parked at a duplex for 2 years now.. and I finally went over and knocked on the door... the person didn't know whos it was.. so I knocked on the next door and they didn't know... It had no registration on it... no I/M tags on it, nothing..... I called the landlord and he said its been there for a few years and a past tenant left it..I asked if I could take it off his hands cause I could use some parts... he said he would gladly let me take it and that I'd be doing him a favor.

So we get it back to my house and we pop the hood.. it's got a ZC motor in it!.... so not only did I find a CRX with all body panels I could use (doors , fenders, hood , bumpers) but I got a new motor / ecu / trans as well.. for FREE

Now I gotta get busy swapping everything over.

I can relate. I work for a towing company here on the central coast of Ca. We impounded this CRX for streetracing and it's on a 30 day hold. The car is set to clear lein sale next week and my boss is gunna sell it to me for 400. He doesn't know anything about Honda's or motor swaps. All he knows is that it's lowered and doesn't have current tags. So to him it's a peice of crap that's not worth anything.

It too has a ZC with DC header, intake and exhaust. Plus it has a body kit and one of those 5 inch Tachometers. Pretty riced out in my opinion. But it has potential. I could probably sell it for triple what I'll pay for it.

Score.

It's got the ZC motor and the dizzy and radaitor and all that snaz looks rather new as well... It's got aftermarket strut bar. and a chikara header..

Im wondering if I should just build the motor for boost.. I was looking around... motor parts for the ZC motor are DIRT cheap...

Question: It's single cam.. VC doesn't say Vtec.. the block just says ZC.. the head is a PM8-11 ...

So I have a single cam ZC motor.. is it vtec or no?.. anyone find any specs for me?... I can't find a whole lot on it.. the engine faq codes showed a bunch of ZC information but no SOHC ones... ?

the sohc zc is basically the same thing as the usdm d16a6....In japan it comes in various cars both carbed and fuel injection,,but the one you see swapped in our cars usually comes from the 90-91 integra

Im in Alaska.. honda theft isn't a big issue.. haha...

So the ZC motor in the car I got is pretty much the same thing as my stock CRX SI motor eh?.....same trannies and all?..They are both non vtec right?...

Im a CRX noob I got a 98 GSR I'm use to... (Selling it to modify the crx )

I read somewhere the d16a6 motor has like 9:1:1 compression. Good for boost I suppose.... So I need to do a Y8 head swap eh?...

It's an abandoned vehicle... been parked for 2 years.... if I didn't snag it.. he'd call a wrecker and they'd take it to a junk yard...

yeah its basically the same as the d16a6.....there is a vtec sohc zc though ..you can tell by looking at where the sparkplugs are..They would be all the way up front like a d16z6....and there would be a vtec solenoid of course

also chances are they used the stock crx tranny....cause most places sell the sohc zc longblock alone by itself and most people just get it as a stock replacment..

Hm, so if the spark plugs are close to the front like a d16z6 eh.....

If not the Y8 head is a vtec head?...

http://hondamarketplace.com/zerothread/1723577

I guess I could buy that head...and replace the intake valve since it's bent....

Easy swap I'd assume? Since it has the vtec solenoid... god im such a noob =/

If you have AIM.. I could message you there.. so we could quit going back and forth :D

yeah the y8 head is vtec also..bolts right on the d16a6 block,,just have to wire vtec, remove the oil jet from the block and convert to obd1 p28 ,,or chip the crx si ecu for vtec..

1 bent valve is no big deal, can have machine shop fix it for cheap

its actually pretty easy now days since they have these adapter harnesses for every damn thing...check out rywire.com

but if you want stay obd0 ,,you can chip the crx si ecu ,and run 1 wire vtec where all you gotta do is run the wire from the solenoid to a relay then directly to the ecu.....check out xenocron.com for chipping info hes also xenocron on here

Your in Alaska huh? Damn, I just came back from Soldatna (near Kenai) and none of those guys were into imports. I'm more suprised that you found a modded Honda up there. LOL.

Wish I could help you on the VTEC issue. The ZC I'm speaking of in THIS rex is the twin cam non VTEC.

not to change the subject to far...

I'm all for saving a CRX, but your getting rid of a 98 integra gsr for it?? Man, not me...unless it was beat all to hell and was an automatic...

or if you already have too large a fleet! I know I had that problem for a little while...

Keep the gsr and use all the parts you neef for the engine swap into the crx. Also if you're doing a vtec head swap you want a D16Z6 head not a Y8, the Z6 has better flow, but use the Y8 metal gasket because it has high c/r.

gsr? did u do a type r converation? i have never seen a gsr with bar head lights unless it was a 92-93. just pull the motor out of the gsr and throw it in the crx now that some fun. a buddy of mine has a 93 hatch with a gsr turbo runs 12.60 @8 psi, but a crx over that teg i hate to say this but i would take the teg that bitch is clean. don't waste ur time with the sohc. ls/vtec or b20/vtec.
