What would it take to run 7's in the 8th?
I know this probably seems like a stupid noobish question but I'd like a serious answer. I have recently discovered how fun racing at the local dragstrip can be although I have yet to take my Accord. I really have been wanting a Mustang for a while now as I'm tired of dealing with slow 4cylinders. After seening some Civics on slicks that really ran I am thinking if I had my Accord like that I could be happy with it. I have yet to find a Mustang I like for a resonable price and I've been looking for a while so I have recently started wondering what would it take to get my Accord to run low to mid 7's in the 8th of a mile? How much should I be looking to spend? I'm just wondering if it would be cheaper to make it fast. Right now it's a auto. I have planned to do a 5 speed conversion but not until the auto goes out on me.

I agree I used to think the 1/8th is for sissy's but the closest two tracks are 1/8th. I'd much rather run a 1/4 but when I have to drive 3 hours to get to a track I can't do that everyweek. I can drive the 30-40 min to one though. I would like to go to the 1/4th everyonce in a while but it seems more practical for me to build one for the 1/8th since thats what all the tracks around here are.
I'm sorry I posted this in the Accord forum at first. I didn't know if it should go there or here since it was about making an Accord fast but drag racing at the same time. Thanks for moving it.

I think the first 1/8th is the most important part of the 1/4.

Thats the first time I've ever heard anyone reccomend I turbo an H22. From everything I've read they don't hold boost at all. Would I be faster trying to turbo my F22 or would I be faster just swapping in an H22? Can I run nitrous and a turbo safely? Some people have told me yes and some no. How big of a shot could my auto transmission and F22 take?
On the Auto tranny id say 50shot , The f22 prolly 7-10psi on a Engine management,Maybe 5-6psi on Fmu, any honda engine for the most part will hold atleast 10psi with a Good tune, Turboing the f22 would prolly be the cheapest way to go, besides NOS but you have to refill the bottle at $50 a pop :and the f22 with even 5psi i would say would be alot torquer and faster then just swaping in a h22.

how does a engine not hold boost at all? that just dosent sound right.
just like OBRJosh said 7 to 10 psi is no problem for honda engines.
i've turboed a H22 & a H23 motor and they both held the boost and they both liked it. a problem that i ran into with the the H series motors are when put under high boost. things tend to just take a **** like the infamous balance shaft seal.
but then the thing is that the H23 block is nearly the same as the F22 block so you might run into the same problem when trying to turbo the F22.
the H22 is a way better building platform when trying to go fast. and its good since it would drop right in.
there is a chance that the H22 with a lil work could be faster than the F22 turbo.
but if done right the F22 should get it, just get a decent size turbo and and good tune. if you like it then you coud build one just for the boost.
30psi is a nice thing

Because it is. The only thing left for most of us from the 660' on is just one shift and continue to drive straight.
Good luck with the Accord though. It's gonna take quite a bit to get mid- to low- 7s with it. Manual would be nice, and slicks will be absolutely necessary. H22 with nitrous or turbo. You'll have to more than likely resleeve the H22 to hold a significant amount of boost pressure with the turbo, but should handle 10-12 psi fairly reliably. Do some more research on turbo-ing an H22 and you'll find out they can make some serious power.
