If I'm correct, gears have nothing to do with it. The difference in the hydro and cable transmission is how the clutch is engaged. With the hydro transmission, you have brake fluid that is forced through the line to your slave cylinder, which pushes against your clutch fork, engaging the throwout bearing, pushing against the pressure plate, blah blah blah... The cable transmission is just that. A cable line engages the clutch fork, blah blah blah.
You should be able to use the gears from either one. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
