Default Another ITR thief story...

Was sleeping over at my GF's parent's house last night. Woke up and her mom said my driverside window was smashed in. Run out and the entire window was shattered. I guess I'm lucky cause they didn't take my car but I'm still gonna be out $200 dollars to replace my window . They also didn't take anything... since I don't keep anything of value in the car and still run the stock headunit. Basically they smashed the window... leaned inside and looked thru my armrest box and my ashtray. Guess I should go ahead and folow thru with the armrest delete... They didn't even search my glovebox or look thru my backpack in the rear. It looked like they tried to open my trunk but only got my gas cap instead. They also smashed her dad's passenger window on his 87' 300zx but the alarm went off and his tint film kept the window from shattering. I heard the alarm last night but I figured they'd just hear it and run off... cause they've broken into the 300 before when he left his doors unlocked. Basically it looks like there's someone in running around doing smash and grabs, cause other people in the area have gotten thier cars broken into too and they said that during the 5yrs they've lived here this has only started to happen 2 months ago. Thieves suck! I got pics and I'll post them later.

Oh! They did steal something... 2 of my valve stem caps from the driver side lol! I'll be waiting with a bat tonight...

UPDATE:

Consider yourself lucky, it sounds like young kids doing smash and grabs for ipod's, cel phones, and, loose change.

Had it been pro ITR thieves you'd be out a whole lot more than $200 to replace a window.

If I were in your position I'd never park the car at your gf's house again.

GL and do your best to keep the R safe.

Damn, sorry to hear about the window.

Good thing they didn't do any worse damage.... Also, its a clear indication that they used porcelain from a sparkplug. You can see the point of impact on hte 300's window. Its very silent, and the windows just shatter.

PS- those wheels are ugly bro, put the sotkc ones on damnit!

if you're going with the armrest delete, sell me the armrest

You guys should seriously consider moving to europe... overhere the Integra is just another Honda, and if debadged people don't even recognise what brand it is...

Don't you have an alarm? You said you heard his but didn't mention yours.

Glad they didn't take anything except your valve stem caps. (wtf?)

Curious though, why do you have an older "ACURA" steering wheel?

must be kids who still ride on a bike. they love to steal valve stems for that reason.

or...they knew you were clark kent in disguise and wanted to give you trouble.

so the 300ZX had been broken into before, and you still decide to leave the R parked in the street like that?? that is an OPTIMAL location for a tow truck to grab your car in less than 10 seconds. not only that, but you heard the alarm and didnt go outside knowing that your R was parked out there?

glad you still have the car, but you might want to be less naive and/or careless. most R owners hit with this sort of thing arent this lucky.

PS I like the wheels, leave them on

Man, where did you grab those wheels? did you teleport back to the 1980's and take em off a E30 3 series BMW?

rofl

PS- closing your door will never sound the same again, unless you get it done at Honda/acura!... closing my door sounds like trash cans smashing together.. lsat previous owner had the car broken into twice, each window! ;(

They might have popped the gas cap looking for a spare key. Was told that by a Cary police officer when my Hype R and my roommate's GS-R got broken into by a smash 'n grab gang.

I would imagine the car has seen some type of "incedent" before based on the older steering wheel, and rim choice, theft recovery maybe?

i have had my R broken into 4 times and the last time was the worst. for some reason they couldnd get the car started or else i would'd have it any more. i only keep it parked in a garage of storage unit. next place i move to has to have a garage. no exceptions!!!!!!!! look at this as a wake up call bro. yes the **** can really happen to you.

haha I can attest to this then when you pop off the door panel to fix the window, you will never get it to fit snug again and that will just add to the rattles lol

Interesting, I've taken both of my front door panels off to grease the window tracks. I just followed the service manual step by step. Plus the dealership has had them off a couple times too, and they're still snug as a bug.

That sucks. If you have full coverage though (like I'd hope you would on a 2000+ ITR) full glass is usually included. No Deductible.
