Would this be worth it...
The Good: 91' CRX Si, Original owner, sunroof, power locks, 90k original miles, never ever raced.
The Bad: It's now "totalled" because all of the windows were smashed out, and the tail light was broken. Also, it has a small dent of the quarter from the bat. Other than that, no damage.
I can pick it up cheap from the insurance company, but I don't know how to determine what it's worth - ecspecially with a salvaged title. ALSO, I can get the windows cheap because I work in a body shop. How much is a car like that worth, and would you do it if you could?
Oh - has anyone ever had to get a re-constructed title? I heard it's months and months of paperwork.

re-title is nothing, i work in a body shop also and pretty much all we do is buy salvaged cars, fix them, get them re-titled and sell them to people. all ya gotta do pretty much is right when you buy it send in the paper work so you get a head start with that, fix the car, save all reciepts and whatnot and take it to you state inspection place when your date is up, they look over the car, look at your reciepts pretty much all they look it is making sure your not using stolen parts, then your good to go, wait for your title to come in. salvage title on a car like that does'nt mean anything because they're only worth like 2k to begin with.
Re-title from a Salvage is different actually per state. Some state require more than others, but for the most part -it is simple. However, check with someone from your state of PA to find out for sure. In our state, after repair work is complete, you need to "tow" it to the State Police dept. You have to tow it because they don't give temp tags for salvage prior to a State Police inspection. The State Police do a inspection on the car, looking at VIN numbers everywhere and move sure that the car is not basically 2 cars put together. From there, then we can go to the MVA to get temp tags, if you choose, then get a normal required state inspection done at any ole gas/service station that has the authorized mechanic.
As far as pricing - normally the insurance companies have a price they have come up with -it is normally not negotiable -it is normally over their highest salvage bid.
