Default GRRR...Damn Insurance

Just got my renewal from Progressive, they raised my damn rates a whopping 300 dollars from 1200 per 6 months. A lil background: I'm 21, turning 22 in a few months, 94 GSR in NorCal, 1 at fault, 1 ticket.

Any advice on what to do about this? I'm tempted to change companies TIA!

23 single male, 3-4 tix, all speeding, 1 break in (under 1,000). (since 17) 98 ls, car and insurance in my name. I pay 500 for FULL coverage for 6 months. That includes the 100,000 p. person p. accident, 300,000 total and all the better rates, plus free tows, unlocking, etc. So it is not the cheap stuff. Another reason I Love the LS. Allstate, my friends, Allstate. Oh yeah, $250 deductable, not that $500 crap.

change companies. That is all you an do.
Most insurance rates have gone up 10-25% when the Cal Board of Insurance approved across the board rate hikes by their specific target market.
Unlike in other states, the state of Ca can raise rates. Insurance companies have to apply for a rate hike.

I think Cali insurance is more expensive than Ohio, but you should be able to get it for less than 2500 per year. When I was 21-22 I had a mustang 5.0 and I think I paid about 1800-2000 per year. That was with an accident and a speeding ticket. This was 6 years ago. My alzheimers is kicking in.

I am 28 with a clean record, my ls 4 door was 1200 per year, and my gsr is 1500. I am afraid or the raping wrath of the insurance company if I had 4 speeding tickets.

The Integra has one of the highest insurance rate in all of the US. It also doesn't help that he lives in Ca and has one 1 ticket, 1 at fault accident.

Good lord Nighthawk, I feel for ya bro, almost 5K a year is nuts!
I'm switching for sure now though, called them this afternoon, they said it was a company wise "increase", nothing to do with my driving record. I told them maybe a 50 dollar increase would be reasonable, but almost 300!? Insanity (I guess the Pro"rape"ssive" name is fitting now).

Anyhow, anyone have any experience with Esurance? I managed to get a quote for around 1100 for them, 6 months, pretty reasonable coverage as well.
I tried Allstate as well, around 1200. Anyone have any recommendations?

You just have to wait till you hit 25 before you get good rates, assuming you don't have tickets then. Males get reamed by auto insurance when under 25 and single. I'm 31, married, no tickets so I pay only $900/year for my '97 GSR and $575/yr for my Civic. And it doesn't include the refund check I get back from State Farm every year which I guess is for not filing any claims or something.

One thing to remember also is don't just go with an insurance company just because it's cheaper. Ask others about their experiences when filing claims. I know people that used Allstate and others and they all switched to someone else (mostly State Farm) because they said it was like pulling teeth to get things done right when filing a claim. So watch out that stuff.

sadly enough, i do see many people driving integras around like they're ferraris.. not as much as stangs and f-bodies though, but still enough to cause a nuisance
