Would someone care to give me detail explanation the advantage of using the oil accumulator for road racing ? Thanks

 

they basically surve 2 functions.

1) Protection from loss of oil pressure

As oil in your pan sloshes about under high G corners, your oil pump pickup can become uncovered for a second or 2, which causes temperary loss of oil pressure. No oil pressure = no oil going to parts that need oil = engine damage. A oil accumulator provides oil during these times reducing the potential for damage.

2) Cold start Pre-oil

We put a accusump on every race car we build, I would not want to race one with out it, cheap insurance.

It's been called "a poor man's dry sump"

 

So where are you guys mounting your setups and what size is everybody running?

im curious about this. is their 3qt one suffiecnt for everyone?

 

After noticing what my oil pressure gauge does under hard cornering on a roadcourse... yeah, I'm glad my car has an Accusump. Very, very glad.

 

Whats the recommended size for honda 2,5 quartz or 3 quartz ?I am running Mugen oil pan btw and couldnt afford a dry sump system for the time being...

 

2 quarts is fine for 4 cyl engine.

That is what we run on our cars, and have never had a problem.

 

I run stock pan and no accusump no problems. But im gonna get one for my next car.
