Default Crower 403 on auto?

I'm just wondering if anyone with auto teg installed crower 403? Is it worth it? rougly how much hp/torque increase w/ or w/o tuning? My frd is selling me his crower 403 pt cheap but im just wondering if it is worth it at all or not. I know manual swap would be better but i dont have the cash for it yet.

Do it, it's still an improvement over stock.

Are you getting valve springs and retainers? Like it said, it will be an improvement over stock but won't be as noticible when driving as if you had it in a 5-spd

do you know what gain (roughly) to the whp if i were to bring the car get it dyno-ed? im planning to get it tuned if needed to get the best performance

i'm not planning to get valve springs/retainer because since it's auto, it would just stick w/ the stock redline (can't over rev anyways, under 6.8k rpm).

That would be very hard to guess since every motor and tune is different. Your best bet would be to just throw them in, have it tuned and dyno it. It would be a noticeable improvement over stock.

I say save your money ! What mods do you have? I would think the auto tranny is gonna shift at a lower RPM and these cams don't get rolling until over 4000 RPM's their peak power will come in near redline on a manual about 7000-7500 RPM.
I had the Crane Stg 2's on a port n polished LS head... with the valvetrain upgrade from Crane... also I/H/E and an uberdata chip on the E.C.U to increase redline to 7500.... I made 143whp Peak power was at 7400

Not everyone shift's at 4k when they have cam's tho, so what's the difference if they're in a manual car vs an auto car set to normally shift at normal throttle at 3k.

if you put it on S4, it shift's at 3500 and with a little bit more push on the pedal, you can hit 4k.. so that wont be a problem. and it's not wot either to get to that mark.

I guess i'm either misunderstanding you, or something, but please help me understand if I took it the wrong way. Thanks!

Yeah you really mis understood.... I was shifting at 7500 with a 5 SPD tranny.... I said the cams dont really start even building power until 4000 rpms.... my point was that the peak power on the dyno was made at 7400 rpm and an auto is gonna shift wayyy before that.... also the low end was kinda shitty until 4000 rpms...

the dyno curve looked very similar to a stock GSR's dyno...kinda crazy

In final... save your money

I say ****** them up if you can get them "cheap" not necessarily install them but if you are planning to do a manual swap then itll be a good pick up otherwise jsut turn around and sell them...

And you're saying that it will shift before that because the auto's redline is like 6.5k?

I am not positive the redline, I think its 6900... and yes that was the point it will shify earlier than the peak power....

Also the cams are honestly meant for a little higher compression.... if you had higher compression pistons that would make a big difference....

I probably could have seen much better numbers if I had added higher comp pistons on my old set-up
