Default EK BOSS kit

Anyone knows if the Boss kit for a 96-98 civic is the same as that of a 99-00 civic? My friend tells me that the centre teeth shafts are of different diameters. Is this true? My EK comes with an airbag, do I need to buy a Boss Kit that is suited for a airbag EK so as to wire up my horn? I have seen the non-air bag EK boss kits and it seems there is this metal ring at the back for the grounding of the horn. The airbag version does not have one. Which should I get?

all 96-00 civic can use the same boss, your friend is wrong. U are not going to be ablt to use an airbag when u change wheels anyways, so get the one without the airbag option. when u install it u have to remove the SRS reel anyways

^^^ hes right and u will loose your horn, unless u have a long wire hanging out of you steering neck enought to turn 3 rds with your steering wheel. the reel is needed for the horn but u have to loose it.

Shouldn't the hub fit over the srs reel? The hub should come with a connector for the horn too. Unless the hub is only suited for a non-airbag EK which requires a hub with a metallic ring behind to have a consistant ground regardless of the angle of the wheel.

This guy is wrong too. Do a search and find a few threads of people wiring up their horn without the SRS reel

The whole point of the SRS reel is to allow the steering wheel to turn to 2.5 revolutions left or right from center. If you remove it and replace the horn wire with a normal wire not going via the reel, your wire will kink and eventually break internally. I have seen a few hubs and they actually have 2 holes at the back for the fitting of the 2 studs sticking out of the reel.

Bump. Can someone clear up this issue here? So what do I need to do so as to retain my SRS reel?
