Default Painting Intercooler Black?

Hey guys,

I have been doing a lot of work to get may car running cooler as it is really hot in Dallas these days....Any how, I removed the intercooler to check the radiator coils and install a much larger pusher fan. I am considering putting a screen in front of the fmic as it is picking up lots of bugs, rocks etc...It would be nice to paint it black so it matches the rest of the car and is not so noticable behind the screen. Your thoughts?

Thanks in advance

"SEARCH?
Learn to do a search. Many times you can find the answers to redundant questions by just searching. A LOT has been covered. This doesnt mean you need to tell everyone to search if they post up something that has been covered.

DO NOT TELL PEOPLE TO SEARCH. If you think the thread doesnt belong, report it to a mod and we'll deal with it. Remember, there's a ton of archived information, but technology changes as do specific situations. There is often not a definitive answer for many questions in this sport."

you all must be bored. It would have taken less time to answer than to critisize. I will try the all knowing "search" button next time so I can spare myself the grief.

Mods: this is why this site has such bad reputation

sorry friend, laziness is looked down upon here; you were too lazy to search so you get the torch. this topic has been covered over and over:

Your search for painting intercooler returned 29 results.
Your search for black intercooler returned 13 results.

Thanks Speed Infliction I'll look into it. They may have some technical data as to efficiency loss etc.

Efficiency loss is minimal, you should only paint the front face to give the sleeper look while maintaining maximum cooling... or if your really crazy you will get the IC anodized black, i believe FR black intercoolers are anodized

The Eastwood paint is thin, made specifically for radiators/intercoolers and is supposedly heat emitting. Now I don't know if the last part is true, but it works well. I've used it before. They also have it in gloss, but if you are trying to hide the intercooler why make it shiny?

Outside of anodizing, I'd only recommend fogging the front mount. On my old drag intercooler, I fogged the endtanks and left the center core clean. Noone could tell.
