gsr tranny w ls 5th gear???
anyone has a gsr tranny with ls 5th gear on a ls engine?? is this worth doing and possible.. what benefits other than faster revving engine or downfalls? curious as to how this would perform on a 93 integra ls with i/h/e/tb act clutch lightened stock flywheel. plan to stay n/a ..would a quaife atb diff make a big difference also in acceleration and handling??? any input would help ..

You're treading on thin ice my friend. I have tried this topic of gsr trannies and all the gsr owners say that it makes no difference. Just a word of caution!
why would it make no difference? would'nt the shorter gearing on the gsr tranny work better on an n/a ls engine and the ls 5th gear be better for freeway cruising?????anyone know any better???

would'nt the gsr tranny cause my 5th gear rpm's to be too high for freeway cruising around 70-80 mph, that's why i would need to use the ls 5th gear in the gsr trannyto keep the cruising rpm's around 3700 rpm at 75-80 mphon the freeway.

the gsr 5th is pretty nice, i'm at 3500 when going 70 and 4000 when going 80, what you do want to do is get an SI or ITR tranny and throw the 5th gear on it cause they suck for highway.

I had a big replys happening on that one
i was going for diff reasons. im thinking of getting a lower final drive ratio (ats possibly)
if you have an aftermarket exhaust cruising @ 80 on the freeway is still kinda loud. would prefer for it to be lower

the ideal setup for N/A would be a jdm type R tranny w/ GSR 5th....GSR 5th is fine for freeway cruising...the type R tranny would shorten all your gears. add a jdm final drive in there and you'll be set.

Good luck trying to find a 96-97 spec JDM tranny.
