Im going to have to do some reworking of my tranny after 135k hard miles

i was thinking if it is possible to some how get a 5th gear off a manual ls transmision? and swap it in mine

i would like to be able to cruize on the freeway at 80 around 3500 rpm
which i believe the ls was their or maybe lower

I 've read about people doing it, but usually in conjunction w/ a lower final drive.

 

A GSR turns 4000rpm in top gear at 80, so that is not a huge difference. I personally wouldn't waste my money, as I think it would degrade the car. However, I think that it possible to do this. Im not 100% certain though.
