Default NOPI Championship payouts?

CLASS 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
Pro 4 Cylinder 5,000 2,000 1,000
Pro Street Tire 8,000 3,000 1,000
Pro Stock 10,000 4,000 1,000
Pro Outlaw FWD 20,000 8,000 1,000
Pro Outlaw RWD 20,000 8,000 1,000
Pro Compact 25,000 10,000 2,000

Pro 4 Cyl. pays HALF of what the all motor class pays and less than Pro Street Tire?? Does that seem right?

If you think that's bad look at the NOPI/NDRA payout for the SPORTSMANS Championship.

Yeah but you know what, at least they have given us a championship to compete for the past 3 seasons. Last year we got a decent amount of parts, a trophy and a nice Nitto ring.

Hey Tony, stop swinging from NHRAs nuts already and load that integra into chuck's trailer for MIR, we'll have a b-series fastest street car shootout

Not swinging from anybodys nuts. You're crazy if you really think that payout structure is fair. All motor has always been at the bottom of the payouts, for all motor to pay twice what Pro 4 does is ridiculous. You can't say it's from the turnouts because all the classes are pretty similar as far as that goes.

I'd love to come run in Moroso, but i can't afford to. The shop comes first...

So each race pays $2500 for the winner, but a year end championship is only $5000??? P4C wise??

I dont get it??? Doesn't really motivate anyone to build a car for this class...especially when honestly it takes a bare minumum of $50k to build a somewhat competitive P4C car.

Just my 2 cents, when has it been a money making business to race?? Its a sport...If you paid $50k to build a car to race, I can guarantee without sponsors you are not going to recup that money in the race year with any sanctioning body..

Maybe the championship payout got divided up when they split the class into Pro4 and ProGT?

Your right, it isn't a money making sport. But to pay $5000 to a year end champion, that wouldn't even begin to cover the fuel alone to make it to all the races necessary to win a championship. All I'm saying is that is a REAL LOW number for a year end champion.

So you go to 10 races and win the championship in P4C....thats only $500 per race. Heaven forbid you get 2nd...thats only $150 a race!!!

your lucky were gettin anything at all...gotta start somewhere...the sport isnt that big to be payin 50-100k for a championship...one day hopefully it will be...if your not in this sport for fun and your tryin to make money then you have the wrong idea

The $$$ is not there to justify covering anything...I think if Pro 4 was getting 10,000 and and Pro Stock was getting $10,001...everyone would still complain, Understand that everyone will never be happy, and if you are in the mindset that the payouts for drag racing are suppose to cover any expenses then you are mistaken, so if you don't even place, what covers your expenses then...

I understand that...you guys are misunderstading what Im saying. I know this isn't a money making business, but it is a business when you have a PRO car that travels year long with a series. Fun...maybe, but most of the PRO cars do this for a living. And when you build a PRO CAR to compete nationwide, and travel the country, its seem rediculous that the yearend payout be that low. When I competed in P4C in 2003 the payout was 4 times that amount. Thats where it started. So my confusion is why it is so low now. If it was always $5k for a championship there would be no confusion.

Racing for fun is at your local track testing and tuning. Racing for a living is what the majority of the PRO teams do

yea but majority of the pro teams are sponsered...its rare that a pro team follows the circuit with an average 9-5 job like all of us

Thats true. And thats what Im saying. But you said you should be in it for fun and not money. A PRO team that is sponsored and does this for a living does consider this a business. And what business puts fun before money??? My main point here is, I know that the money won at races isn't going to even come close to helping recoupe the expenses...I know that. The only point Im trying to make is the P4C class in 2003 paid $20k to the year end champion and now it is $5k. You said we have to start somewhere?? This isn't a start, its a decline. My main question is why???

Pro 4 has never been 20k for the Championship.

The only reason the pay out is less is because this is not the same Pro 4 class as old. Remember, there were a ton of rule changes made to keep this class affordable for the average guy to step up from Turbo Street. Pro GT was were most of the cars with autos and aftermarket trannies were to go. But, that did not work out, a Mustang scared them away.

On a side note, 90% of the Sport Compact racers do maintain 9-5 jobs, and even work for other teams when thier cars are down.

Tony, just so you know. Chuck had already contacted me on this. We had approached the situation with the Pres. of the NDRA and were making headway in increasing the payout. I hope your antics have not ruined that for Chuck.

Tony, good job.

This is a public forum, where people free to talk about what they want. I wanted to hear everyone's opinion on the matter. Sorry if you wanted to keep it in the dark and hope nobody noticed it....
