Default am i going to ruin my brand new shocks?

I just bought some KYB AGXs for my car... the rear shockst hat are on it now are blown and the fronts arnt much better.. thats why im repalcing them... right now what i have on the car (what came on the car when i bought it) are some Tokico shocks with some Ractive coilovers now im wondering if either the tokicos are just crap and blew, or if they blew because of the coilovers... i really am not trying to spend 350 bucks on new shocks to just see them blow again.... are my shocks at risk of being ruined if i reuse the old ractive coilovers...? i dont really have the money right now to buy new springs or coilovers.... any help or advice would be nice... thanks in advance guys... sorry about the long post... lol

im not sure to tell the truth... they were on the car when i bought it... however there was just about no wheel gap.. on 14s with a 195 60r14 tire.... so im sure it was pretty low... i never did scrape over speed bumps or anything.... im sure it was lowerd about 2 inches if not more... im not keeping it that low at all.. im actualy raising it about an inch because i need this to be my dailly driver and get me back and forth to and from college on the weekends and ****.... so if i raise it an inch.. should i be fine..? and jsut buy better coilovers or springs when i get the money?

tokicos shaft seals suck, they usually leak even on stock setups after 10k miles or so. KYBs however are alot better, but they tend to get play in the shaft itself and that will allow the seal to leak anyways, but KYB have liftetime warranty, so dont worry too much.

Wait until you get your new springs are coilovers then put your new struts. That should raise your ride some.

Previous owner used as many shitty parts as he could find. If I were you, I'd spend some money on a good set of lowering springs if you don't care for adjustable ride height and just want a good daily driver. Eibach Pro-Kits would be a good choice, so would H&R sports although they tend to lower a bit more than the Pro-Kits.

problem is i have already started taking my car apart to put the new shocks on... and i leave for college in like a week... i dont even have enough time to order some new springs and wait for them to get here even if i wanted to.... looks like im going to raise the coilovers almost all the way up and just deal with it until Christmas time when i can buy some new springs and put them on.... thank for all the advice guys! i appreciate it.

My friend had AGXs with Ractives. The one rear blew but I don't remember how slammed it'll be.

Sounds like you don't have much of a choice, so you mine as well just put it on. Just don't drop it too much. Or leave it monster truck status

what about if i put stock springs back on? with the new AGXs? there not stock springs from a EK but there my old stock springs from my EG.. will they fit? and would that be better than the coilovers? i cant even get the coilover sleeves off the old struts so this might be the route i have to take anyways...

with your kyb agx i would use qa god inch inchand a half drop springs i had tenzo r's and they held up just fine
for settings on the agxs i used 2 in the front and 3 in the rear that gave me the best quality in my 92 hatch

Personally, I'd just use the stock springs but they're EG springs you said so I'm not certain they will fit your EK. Hopefully someone can give you a clear answer.
