Need help with engine starting!

To start off my bike was working perfectly 2-3 weeks ago. I tore the plastics off and had them repainted and today I tried putting it back together. First I connected the gas tank and fired her up with the choke on and she stayed on for a while but wouldn't pass 1k rpm. If I turn the choke off it will just cut off. After a while of turning it on and off the bike just wouldn't stay on anymore. The engine will turn but just won't turn on. I checked the spark plugs and they seem good enough. What could be the problem?

Make sure you got the tank on right and didnt pinch any lines. Next thing I'd do would be to clean the carbs since its an old bike and prolly hasnt been done in ages.
Today I tried firing her up again and it turned on for about 5 seconds with the choke on but after that it just wouldn't want to turn on anymore. I checked the fuel pump and petcock and they are both working. I also tried turning it on with the gas cap off to see if the tank hose was plugged or not but it still wouldnt turn on. I also pulled the carbs out and alot of fuel poured out of them. Is that normal?
You have a pinched/clogged breather more than likely, check ALL lines from the tank... was the tank painted? there maybe a piece of tape stuffed in somewhere that is not allowing for proper fuel flow. Yes, carb for motorcycles generally have float bowls that keep a messured amount of gas in them. Is this a down draft or side draft bike?
