Cannot start the engine!
I dropped my R1 while it's standing still twice (first time on the right side, second time on the left side), engine won't start after it got dropped. I hear clicking sound but that's it. Please help me out.
What year R1?
So in the same few minutes you droped it twice???? How did you do that?..
"thinking" thats a tuffy, I dunno what would cause it to do... Maybe you fouled a plug? I know when I dropped my 6 it took a few times to get it started again. Press the ignition and give gas...
How long did the bike sit on its side? Was it running? Keep us posted.

2001 R1
I was riding the bike until coming to a stop in front of my garage, there is a incline. i forgot to apply brake so the bike started to back up, i couldnt hold it so it fell on the right side. engine dint start after first fall. I was able to pick it up but i forgot to put the sidestand after it was up so it fell to the other side. this time i wasnt able to pick it up so it was laid on the ground for more than 10min until i got my neighbor to help me.
engine was cranking at first, but after several tries, it only makes "ti ti ti ti " noise. I am new so i dont know how to take out the plugs and check them. please advice.
no, the bike wasnt running at all while i dropped it both times.
thanks!

"ti ti ti ti" I suppose sounds like a starter trying to turn a locked crank. Or it could be a normal crank. Is the rythm/ sound the same as normal or very different? Also look for a tip over kill switch reset procedure in your owner'a manual
Ahahaha...Didn't you just get this R1 in the past few days(if not today) and you already managed to:
1. Drop it
2. Pick it up by yourself
3. Drop it again
By any chance was the bike running while you had it on it's side for 5 minutes because that would just top it all off. Good job on buying the R1 and ignoring what we and every other forum says about getting a used beat up SMALL bike to start.
I think he needs a new title for this amazing display of squidly-ness

ya definitively sounds like you don't have enough xperience to handle the R1.... O well to each his own... QUick question. (this is from a previous post) but how much do you weigh and how tall are you? Just curious.
I'm glad you find your own action amuzing.... cause I'm sorry but I thought it was amusing when you explained what happened
Like we said check your plugs, and maybe think of trading it in while it isnt thrashed and get something smaller? Do you have any gear? beside helmet?

tip on picking up your bike. Have the seat on your upper ***/lower back. Grab brake lever with one hand and something solid with your other hand. Use your leg and LIFT!
yes, i read the forum from BARF teaching how to pick up a bike, but since the bike dropped right next to the grass, it was slippery and I couldnt get any grip.
i am 5'11, 150+ lbs.

I'm also on BARF. If you need a mechanic to come to your house, pm elskipador(shawn). Hes a great mechanic and does house calls within 1hr of SF
Hey, um, not to be a dick, but if you forgot to stop the bike on a incline you really shouldn't be riding. You're a danger to yourself and others around you when you do things like this.
I know you find it funny, but it's really not. I knew a girl who dropped her bike 4 times in 1 week. She "FORGOT" to put her feet down at stop lights. As funny as it sounds, she's dead now. The last time she forgot to put her feet down at a light, a truck in the left lane that was turning left, ran her head over.
Think its funny now? Riding is serious.... as my old MSF instructor said "your head has to be in the game, if not, game over"
Think about it.

this is the same thing I said in your thread about you wanting a bike "since you're new. I wouldn't get the r1. get the r6. its more then you will ever need."
we gave you advice and you still bought the R1. I'm sorry but yeah some people learn on bigger bikes but they usually don't drop them twice the same day they get or anything. since you got a good deal on the r1. why not sell it and get something smaller?

This just happened to me a month ago. Here's what you do:
1. Don't try to start it anymore since your cylinders aren't able to compress.
2. Drain oil for about a day, this will allow all the gas that's entered the cylinders to trickle down and drain.
3. Oil change while you're at it.
4. Try to start again. If the batt. doesn't have enough juice:
I. Place key in "On" postition.
II. Put in 2nd gear.
III. Hold clutch, push till you get to about 10MPH and pop clutch.
IV. Repeat steps II & III until bike starts.
P.S. Easier way is to have someone pull you with their car.

holy crap....sell the bike, get a moped. If you can't handle a liter bike in the driveway, how are you going to handle it out on the road? TERRIBLE bike to learn on.
