Brake line thread on ITR caliper stripped.....
Searched but not too much info related to this topic.
I was trying to complete my big brake upgrade with new remanufactured ITR calipers (bought from someone else) and noticed the passenger side thread was stripped. At first I thought it was the bolt and tried several bolts after going to the junk yard just to make sure and used new washers too but the line kept leaking from the bolt/thread. My stock caliper is fine so I know it’s not the brake hose.
Should I use a helicoil for something like this?? Is there some kind of filler that I can try? I haven’t tried calling a machine shop yet so I’m hoping someone has a good solution for this.
Thanks in advance
JG

If you are talking about where the banjo bolt screws into the caliper, then a Helicoil would be fine. Keep in mind that the threads do nothing in regards to sealing. It's all in the brass washers.
Plan on taking the caliper apart in order to drill, thread, and install the helicoil.
Once done, make sure that none of the helicoil prevents the piston from going to it's full depth!!!!!

Yes, the banjo bolt is what I'm referring to. I did use the new washers that the caliper came with but they didn't work.
Thanks for the reply.
