Where to mount HID ballasts?
Sup, I just picked up my 9006 HID kit and I was wondering where the best mounting location is. I can't really find a non-sketchy place. Where do you guys have your ballasts mounted?

If you have Phillips LVQ-212 or Hella gen3 ballasts, and you have the ballast covers, you can mount them underneath your bumper support beam. They will get wet in that location, but with the covers it's no problem. I've had them in that location for over 2 years now without problems, even in rain, sleet, snow, you name it.

From above all you can see is the red plug on the back of the bulb:

^^^ I would have mounted mine there, but the ballast-bulb high-voltage wire wasn't long enough. Also, I would not mount them there unless you have some kind of ballast cover because it will get wet in that location.
I mounted them behind the bumper support. A few people gave me **** because if I get into a front end crash they would be fucked... liked I'd give a **** about my HID's in that situation. lol

i did the same..... i would be more worried about my motor making it through the wreck than my hid ballast.

Well I was too lazy to take the bumper off so I ended up ziptying the passenger ballast to the ABS pump and the drivers side ballast ziptied to the windshield resevoir and the front bumper support. Kinda hard to explain, I'll take pics by the end of the week.
The lights are ****** sick too btw. 6000k = sex.

if you look at the engine bay there isn't much room to mount the ballast.. i myself have it mounted in the front wheel well area also..just make sure you take special precautions to protect it from watar and remember to always run that splash gaurd
