Hello again. I brought my car to bestbuy to get the tweeters installed. They couldn't do it!

- Because there was no pre-existing wiring for the tweeters

They mentioned something about a crossover for the front panels and the tweeters? Anyone know where i can get this thing installed professionally? (a large chain would be nice b/c i need somethin local) Thanks for your help

it would help if you told us the trim level and whether, is tweeters openings exist and if everything is still stock. i think it would be better if you bought a complete set of speakers - door woofers, dash tweeters and crossovers. doing some keeps things kosher because adding a pair of speakers could potentially harm the front speakers (lower resistance, more power) as well as the headunit (not stable at the lower resistance).

Ok sure, the trim is a accord dx. There are two tweeter openings on the dash. and everything is stock. (upgraded honda cd player) & I'd like to leave the door speakers alone

Do i have to buy the crossovers if i get it professionally installed?

before we go any further, what brand/model of tweeters? does it offer suggestions regarding it's installation, especially into a stock setup?

No you don't NEED to get crossovers, at least not the ones that CB7 is talking about. I'm a little surprised Best Buy wouldn't do it. Wait, actually, no I'm not. Plenty of people, including myself at one point, have added tweeters and nothing else without any problems. As long as they are wired correctly, you won't have any problems, nor will you be putting the headunit at any risk.

You have a couple options you can try. Circuit City is one of them. Most of the time, the installers at Best Buy or Circuit City are essentially beginners at installing stereo equipment. Occasionally, there have some people who actually know what they are doing. Anyway, on to the second option. Car Toys... If there's one in your area, they can do it. The bad part about Car Toys is that they tend to be expensive. You can also try any of the local stereo shops. Like I said, anyone that knows what they are doing can install the tweeters without issues.

What kind of tweeters did you buy? The kind of crossover that you need is called an in-line crossover. It basically looks like a small capacitor (small cylinder shape, generally less than an inch long). What it does is block all the lower sound frequencies, so that your tweeters are only attempting to produce the sounds that they are made to produce (highs). If your tweeters came with them, they will usually be attached directly to the back of the tweeter. Most "lower" end tweeters already have them, while higher-end tweeters are usually made to be used with external crossovers.

I'll see if I can find some decent pictures to show you what I'm talking about.

Thank you very much for the responses. The tweeters are actually stock honda tweeters. I called autosound, they said to bring the car and speakers down so they can see what kind of crossovers i will need, if any.

I think they may actually already have them on the bottom of it. But im not sure what a crossover looks like.

It looks similar to this:

The difference will be that it one wire will entire from one end, and exit from the other. Expect it to be maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. It should be glued to the back of the tweeter somewhere. The picture is actually of a capacitor, but their appearance is similar.
