should i invest in my B18b1?
hey i have a 94 RS barebone stock but with 224,000 miles on it. i've had it for a year and haven't done anything to it engine-wise because i've always felt discouraged to fix it up mainly because i bought it at 190,000 miles and aren't sure if it's worth investing money into such a motor. i've also heard from many people that integras are heavy compared to hatchbacks and civic coupes so that was another reason i didn't want to bother working on my engine: i don't want to spend an insane amount of money to notice little difference in engine output.. so the question is: should i wait to get a new car with better mileage on it to work on, or should i make this integ my project car? if u guys suggest building it, what would u suggest working on first? getting a Vtec head?
Just because the integra is heavy doesnt mean that doubling the power wont make it a hell of a lot faster then it is stock. Hell my SC weighs in at 3600lbs or so and with 600whp it doesnt matter. I'd probably recommend learning how to do motor work yourself, get new pistons/rods/rings/bearings (about $900 for all, brand new) and doing a complete rebuild. Then buy a turbo kit and roll with that. Sure its expensive but you'll get alot more performance and reliablity that way then doing a ls/vtec.
as far as learning how to do motor work myself goes, I'm a smog technician so I understand the mechanics of the motor from just about all aspects, only thing is i dont have the experience but the installs are nothing to be worried about for me, as i can ask my brother for any help i may need since he's an experienced honda tuner himself.. as far as turbo kits go, what are some common turbo kits people tend to go with and what is a good estimated price range.. i would buy a used turbo kit if i do go with one

I would argue it depends on what your goals are. I've seen kits / custom (building it yourself) cost anywhere from $300 to $3000. Do you have a price range / power goal? If you want just a mild setup at half bar to full bar that's much different than trying to setup to run 1.5 bar or 2bar. Both are capable of being done, it just depends on how much you want to throw down.
