i have a jdm b16a. i cant figure out what kind of car it came out of but i went to buy a clutch and the clutch for a 99 civic si and 95 del sol do not fit. how can i figure out what clutch will match?

how does it not fit?

doesn't fit on inputshaft
doesn't fit on flywheel
pressure plate doesn't align with flywheel studs/threads

which ever transmission you have... get the clutch for that one.

 

you need a hydro b-series clutch. anything that says b-series should fit.

 

it is bigger than the original one. only by a very little bit but bigger. the bolts dont line up on the flywheel.

 

i got a b16 clutch but its too big.

maybe your not doing something right? any b-series clutch, flywheel, and tranny are interchangable.

maybe where you got the 2 clutches, they gave you the wrong one?

and when you say they don't fit, have you seen it yourself or are you going off of what someone has told you. i know for a fact the jdm B16A's found in the SIR & SIR2 (civic's from 89-95) are the same as the 94-95 (USDM) del sol. with minor differences of coarse (the clutch is not one of them).

 

i lined up the new clutch with the old flywheel and they don't go together. the clutch needs to be a little smaller. the clutch i ordered was from a 99 civic si. i am putting it on a b16a

 

the clutch can only go on one way...u have to clock it so that all the holes line up

 

i understand that. the new clutch and the old clutch are different sizes. they are both supposed to be for a b series engine but they are two different clutches.

 

he he. i found out i ordered the right clutch and they boxed it wrong. the one that was in the box didn't belong there. thanks for all the help.

why not use the clutch of the 1st gen honda crv.. it will fit your b16 and will give a bigger friction surface.. a better bang for the buck!!
