White smoke and sputtering, maybe bad HG?
Okay, to start off I've got a 95 ex 5sp with 160,xxx miles the oil is apprx 1200 miles old and a CAI. This has only happened twice but it still scares the crap out of me.
A little history so maybe you guys can help.
I had an overheating problem i.e. my car temp would be normal while driving but at a stop it would overheat the guage would read about 90-95% I changed the T-stat and added coolent and that fixed that problem. BTW I ran the car doing that for about a week and a half ( I know that was really dumb)
So I went to pick up my buddy's house, car is running fine. I stop at his house, turn off the car and start the car about 10 mins later. The car is sputtering almost like a mis-fire. I start driving and it goes away after about 45 seconds (after I get above about 3500 rpm) about 4 days later I drive the car around doing about total drive time of 30 mins or so. I stop turn of the car come back about 5 mins later start the car. It starts to sputter RPM drops to about 500 and I have to rev the car to keep it going. I notice a ton of white smoke coming from the exhaust. I drive about 45 seconds again the sputtering stops along with the smoke. I've searched and everything says its probably a blown HG. I checked the coolant and it apprears normal along with the oil.
What are you thoughts? Again, its only done this twice.
Thanks for the help in advance.
