what would make my new engine surge? its surging between about 1000 and 500 rpm. its got a skunk2 manifold and throttle body. and im using a stock LS ecu on a built C5block and B16head combo. with 8.5.1 compression



maybe because of the way i have the filter? i just have that on there until i get it back on the road. or maybe the idle is set to low? check out the build link below.

 

its probably cause it has an LS ecu and it isnt getting the right amount of fuel for idle... though youve lowered the compression so i would think it would be fine anyways.... but thats just another idea....

you dont need to get another ecu just get yours chipped and tuned and it will work fine with vtec and everything .... but if not that maybe you have a vacuum leak.... did you make sure to clean up the head real real good when you put on the new manifold and gasket?

 

the head was completely rebuilt. new valves, springs, retainers, guides and a port and polish. i have a P28 with a HONDATA S300 in it, but i didnt put that ecu in yet. because im pretty sure you have to be ready to tune it.

 

N/A with 8.5:1 compression? I hope you plan on boosting it.

Get it tuned and your idle problem will probably go away.

 

You check for vacuum leaks ?

of course i plan to boost it, thats why its such low compression. get it tuned with my p28/s300?
