Is it the Turbo model? If it is, i wouldnt use it unless your going with a turbo setup...its 3" piping...you loose back pressure which means you wont really have any power gains, maybe power loss. Most exhaust for the crx/civic is 2.25"...if its not the turbo model, than go for it..i heard they make good exhaust.

it's got either 2.25" or 2.5" piping, not the turbo model

2.5" would be perfect w/ a b16...ive never heard thermal exhst on that car. Looks similar to greddy sp i think. Buy it if its a good deal

Personally I wouldn't buy anything but a Thermal. The only drawbacks are that everyone and their cousin has one (Same goes for the other popular exhausts though) and they seem to have a lot of SwayBar clearance issues from my experiences. You may have to play around with a few things to keep it from banging in to your sway bar if you have anything aftermarket on the car. I've seen this a few times with the Thermals.

I just put the thermal exhaust on my car and there is like a 1-2 mm gap between the two pipes. I have a 98 type R. Is this common. Should I try to put a flange inbetween or is it alright as it is. I dont think air is leaking out but I am not sure. Anyone else with a type r install the thermal? Let me know please

When I first got my crx it had a pacesetter, installed a thermal and its a lot better. The quality is great no fitment problems that I am aware of. However, does anyone know if it will work with a suspension techniques rear swaybar?

thermal pacesetter

Mine came with a gasket/flange to put in between the sections. By the way, I have a thermal and it looks and sounds really great.

Thermal =

I really didn't have much of a choice when it came to an exhaust for my 91 4dr. Either custom, thermal, or dc. I chose the thermal and I love it.

i'm pretty sure that it'll work. i know at my friends shop, they we're tryin' to put a sus. techniques rear sway bar on a hatchback w/ a pace setter that was installed to far toward the gas tank, and it would not work w/o rubbing against the muffler section. but, after puttin' on my rear sway bar and seeing how much space there is b/t it and the thermal, i don't think you'll have any problems.

The thermal works with the ST rear sway bar - I've got the 3" system and I did have to grind some of the exhaust hangar that is welded to the pipe right there...nothing that would comprimise the hangar though. I don't know about the little systems, but the 3" is LOUD. Deafening at some RPM if you're on the freeway next to the concrete divider. Droaning otherwise. You'll think you're going to go deaf on a long ride. I welded in a cheap Moroso spiral flow muffler and the system is much more tolerable now.

I've got the Turbo on my car, and although it's big, I needed it. The quality is so good that 3 of my friends and I stared at it for about 20 mins in silence. Sounds really good too.

How would a Thermal catback sound on my 91 DX hatch? 1.5L with no turbo in it's future. I need my car quiet at idle, too. Intake and header will be coming in '03 but I need an exhaust now.

Is it an easy install?

Anybody can switch out an exhaust system. It's very simple......Depending on how high you can jack the car off the ground.

The clearance issue with the suspension techniques sway bar is easy to fix. Either grind off a little bit of the hanger as the above guy did, or replace your stock rubber hanger with a shorter one (this is what I did).

Great exhaust BTW, I love it.

I love my Thermal. i've had it 3 years and no problems. i get a lot of compliments on the looks and how it sounds. i put a suspension tech. rear sway bar on a month ago and have had no clearance problems with the 2.
