Im in the process of reconfiguring my catch can setup and I was thinking. 1 hard pull from a stop, and my catch can picks up a good 1/2-3/4qt of oil. It is rear-fed from the back of the block (freeze plugs location). That is a substantial amount of oil no longer in the system (until it drains back, or more is added). Is it possible that that much oil "loss" can lead to low oil pressure and possibly ka-boom?

I will be relocating the catch can setup to feed from the valve cover but do not have all the parts needed as of yet. So Im running it from the rear of the block still with the drainback.

 

you may need to open up a couple ports/holes on the valve cover to help relieve some of that pressure....

 

yeah I know, Im more concerned with the way it is currently setup. if all that oil is being pushed into the back of the block and up into the catch can, does that mean less oil for the pickup and potentially loss of pressure?

 

if u loose enough oil in the pan, of course you can loose pressure because there wouldnt be any oil to be picked up. Loosing 1/2 quart shouldnt make any difference. Did you use anti siphon fittings on the back of the block or just the prelude fittings?

I was running the prelude fittings on a closed catchcan and would loose over a quart of oil after just two pulls. I ran it like this for a little without any problems, just kept putting more oil in it. THen i switched to the endyn setup with the anti siphon fittings and a drain back, havent had a problem since

 

No its just a generic ebay can with 2 hoses from the back of the block, with a drainback going back into one of those hoses. I used the OEM honda fittings for the back of the block and dont know what an "anti siphon" fitting is.

I havent had any problems with spilling. After I got the car on the road, I was able to see how much oil was going into the can, so I added the drainback and its been fine. Im just curious if 1/2-3/4qt of oil is enough to cause oil pressure drops or not.

 

Do you have an oil pressure gauge? I've never noticed mine dropping off on hard pulls.
