Will a screwed up headgasket prevent a bike from starting
I think I overheated my ninja 250, the temp gauge broke and although it never really smoked I know I was losing fluid. Power stayed the same but I parked it when I got home and now it wont crank. It turns over fine though. I think I might have warped my headgasket. Or any other ideas? Thanks
Well as you know, the head gasket seals the water jacket in the head... so if you lost the fluid, odds are you seized the motor up. That would explain why its not turning over. What does it do when you try to start it? Little more info will help in figuring out what happened. Thanks
My brothers HG blew on his ZX6D and it ran 'fine' afterwards. Of course it had already boiled all the coolant and the whole engine was lubed up with oil and coolant. Never take your bike to a shop either, thats what my brother did and on the way home his bike blew up. The shop didnt admit fault and will not even pay for half the damage.
It turns over fine it just wont start even with starting fluid. Its not flooded either. Smells like burnt antifreeze. I pulled the plugs and they look fine and it will still blow your finger off the hole so its got some compression.
