I think you will spend a good 3k on a turbo kit which would be alot easier to do. You will more then likley get more HP out of it as well. as for how long your car will last its all on how much money you put into tuneing. Ls/Vtec can last probably around 100k. Same goes for Turbo. All depends on the abuse. But I think turbo would be better.

definately turbo.
turbo kit.. $3300
hondata stage 4.. $1100
tuning.. $500
the look on a domestic owner that just spend $30k on a new SS when a stock looking ls makes a near 12 second run.. priceless

a well built turbo motor will out perform an ls/vtec anyday. dont get boost happy and it will be also be reliable. turbo is definately the best bang-for-the-buck. its all in the TUNING

i was deciding to do Ls/vtec a while back, but from the advice of others...i stayed away, not worth the money to gain about 45whp at most...plus you have an ls...get your bottom end rebuilt...and run 10psi...and TUNE IT....

I had a turbo setup for a short while. Bolted on the kit basically and made about 215 whp/200 ftlbs torque with a skinny exhaust. Basic bolt on, no tuning.

My friend has a LS/VTEC setup in his car, and is making 185 whp (not sure on torque but definitely not over 150). His car is sweet, and fast, but I think he spent about as much as me (or more), and is making a lot less hp (BTW, with tuning and 3" exhaust, I was expecting close to 300 whp at higher boost).

Turbo will be easier, and depending on how you look at it, more fun. I'm a lifetime boost addict. However, all motor power is very respectable and very fun too. There's nothing like smoking a V8 with a 1.8 liter 4 banger that has no forms of forced induction.
