Coolant loss -> Overheating, Good compression, Headgasket? (Pic of CC)
Hey guys. I got a 93 DA teg, but have struck some troubles right before I was about to boost. My radiator fan doesn't work, but I doubt that affects anything.
Temp started to rise one day, managed to get it home without it hitting red but it came close a few times. When it did, I could smell that boiling coolant in the cabin, and turned the engine off while waiting for the lights.
Managed to add about 3litres of coolant (overflow was empty, filled it up to half and filled the radiator) and then for about a week, about 100km, the temps were rock solid (even with no rad fan). Then it did it again, overheated again, came back and checked out the coolant and it was all gone from the overflow and couldnt see any in the radiator. Managed to add about 1.5-2L this time alone to the radiator.
Started it up cold after adding the 1.5-2L of coolant and after about 20 seconds I am greeted with this:

My head gasket was leaking a bit of oil so I thought i'd pull the head anyway. Drained the coolant from the radiator plug (though, only about a litre came out, for some reason there's still a whole heap left, is this from the thermostat?) and pulled it off. Here is a pic of the underside of the head:

Compression was 185 / 180 / 185 / 195 in cyl 4 to 1 respectively. Now from the pic above, the thing I noticed was the discoloured intake valves from, and the exhaust valves look like they have had the carbon coating eaten away a bit. Now I am obviously looking for reasons for water to be leaking in, hence why I need the opinion of honda-tech.
I can upload a higher res pic if needed, or pics of the block and cylinders, whatever is needed.
Headgasket looked fine, but I have no idea what i'm looking for.
The motor is 235,xxx km old (150,000miles) old. I am planning to boost on stock block, should I replace a whole bunch of things now? (if so what?) Or should I just wait until all my ringlands melt off and replace everything when I do pistons/rods and bearings?
Thanks for any help.

The only thing I see is the second one up, #3cylinder is dis-colored more than the rest. It looks wet and I would bet it is where the problem was. There looks like there is a nick in the cc on the head right by the water passage(Top right top of it) not on the side. It might be just dirt. check it out.
