Hooray FOR ME!
Well I just want to thank all of you for helping me in the thread I had before (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1692151)
I just got an e-mail from my parents!:
"Second, based on your conversation with me and your father I guess you want a motorcycle fairly soon. As I told you before, you are an adult now and if you want a motorcycle get it based on your want, not what we want or don't want. The only thing I will tell you is that we will not pay any part of the insurance for it. (Yes, you do need motorcycle insurance) This is not because it is "a motorcycle" but because we are paying for one car because it is an absulute necessity for you to have it. But that is not true of a motorcycle and if you want it you are going to have to pay for insurance. You might want to check out what insurance will cost. I have no idea, but based on your age and sex I imagine it will be pretty high. "
That's pretty much saying I can get a bike... I am moving out to an apartment w/ garages to rent in about a month... oh my.. I am kind of tipsy right now so it hasnt set in completely but tommorow I am going to be skipping (in the non-gay way).. haha.
.
Thanks again guys!
p.s. Oh yeah.. see my avatar... thats me right now

That's very true.. .but thats why I'm trying very hard to still try to convince them not to worry.
I told them about the MSF course, all the gear I'm going to be wearing and that the bike isnt my main source of transportation. So I will be able to choose when, where, and why I'm going to ride.
Thanks for the luck

Awesome. it's great to not have to hide **** from your parents. congrats.
Also, your parents are wonderfully articulate. not that mine arent, i just can't imagine them writing an email like that.
My mom called me today and asked me not to ride for the next couple of days. apparently she had a bad dream about the bike and got slightly freaked out.
made me feel terrible so I guess i'll cage it for a few days.
it works out though, since my *** is sore from riding all weekend.

^Thanks bad_monkey
lol... well hopefully I will be able to experience the sore *** as well (from riding)... gosh I'm so excited.. right now I'm looking at the 2003 CBR 600RR (guys its okay... you dont have to dog on me about me not getting a 250 or 500... I find myself to be quite mature to handle it)
Hopefully your mother's dream doesnt come true; ride safe.

Yeah, you're parents are very articulate. Must be some second generation family. LoL
When I got my first motorcycle my parents blew their tops. But it only lasted for one day. Now when I visit my mom, she usually gets on to me about not wearing my leather pants or racing boots. LoL
Dooley, for a new rider here is something weird but useful that you can do. Place rubber bands on your mirrors. Think of the rubber bands as either something stupid you've done, or something stupid someone else has done. Based on my experience I have four rubber bands. Two per mirror. When someone pulls out in front of me that day, I remove one. If I did something stupid, I remove one. When I get down to no rubber band, its time to put the bike up for a couple days and chill out. I call them my four lives.

The rubber band idea is gay. Use scrunchies.
But seriously, don't assume you have 4 lives to play with. It's not a game. And your parents are wise enough to know that. We, obviously, are not. Good luck and be mature.

Your parents sound very resonable and educated.
Good for you, and good luck.

I think you read it in the wrong context. The car I have is mine that I bought... they are paying for my insurance (which is still VERY NICE), thats what they were implying. They just understand that I am a fulltime college student paying my own bills so they try to help me out as much as possible.

What are scrunchies?
Whichever works for you buddy. I don't really need my rubber bands anymore but since it's become a habit it's still on there. Funny, this week I'm down to 2 and it's only Monday.

I dont want to cause any drama.. but I just don't go against my parents wishes.. especially something like getting a bike. I just respect their decisions.

I understand 100%. While I understand it, I still go out and do what I want. Unless they are paying my bills. Only thing I won't get is a tattoo, due to my culture and mother's wishes.

LoL. Some of us actually have functioning families with close family ties and respect for the two people that spent half of their ******* lives to raise us properly. I think it's fair to at least "ask" your parents first. Especially if you're living with them.
