Ok this is my cousins car and she told me she turned the car on and put the car in gear and heard a crack. So now the car doesn't move but it turns on and goes in gear but when you hit the gas and try to drive the rpms just shoot up but the car doesnt move what could be wrong? Any help would be nice.

P.S. no bad clutch smell and gears never got stuck or grinded

from what i'm reading YOUR CLUCTH IS DONE time to get a new one. by the way did she ever get a pulsation after letting her foot of the clucth when in fist gear?

 

can a clutch go out with no sign and no smell?????

 

check the lever (dont remember what it is called) that pushes the clutch out that might have snapped seen it before

 

it is a manual or no

 

The only other thing besides a bad clutch, would be if an axle popped out of the differential.
Happens all the time on your 82 accord

wow, how does that happen. LOL i just learned somethin. By the way, hope i am correct. Everytime you use the clutch you are slowly and gradually burning it so basiccaly if you do a lot of city driving, the life of your clutch will last around 100,000 miles as in if you do a lot of higway driving your clutch life will last beyond a 100k. I think my 94 accord still has the original cluth 170,000 but mine is startin' to act UP.
