Default WHAT ECU? OBD1 B16A, OBD2 CAR.

im trying to find an obd2 ecu that doesnt look for knock. im currently using a p30 and i also have my obd2 p2p? from my d16y8. now, i used a buddies chipped p28 with knock bypassed and the light stayed off, but when i use my stock p30 the light will only come on after ive been driving for a mile or when i hit a certain speed. if i rev it without the car moving, it doesnt come on. when i plugged in my y8 ecu(p2p i think), the light comes on immediately.

can any ecu gurus explain to me why the y8 ecu throws a cel right away?

how about it only coming on while moving with the p30?

is there a obd2 ecu that i can use to pass smog that doesnt look for knock?

thanks.

your P2P will light the CEL for several reasons. Not the knock if I remember correctly. It will also not run the engine even close to correctly.

your P30 is looking for a knock, chip it and disable the knock sensor.
a P28 never looks for a knock sensor to begin with, but it requires a chip to run your engine correctly.

the knock code is set after a certain amount of time under certain conditions of not seeing any signal from the sensor at all.

there is really only one easily found B16A ECU that is OBD2, that's the P2T from the 99-00 SI.
There is also the ultra rare OBD2 P30 and a few others, but good luck finding them.

does the p2t look for knock as well? i dont need something permanent, just for smog, itll be used for less than a day.

isnt there any obd2a ecu that doest look for knock?

and by the way, the p2p seemed to run good on it, a little better throttle response but redline at 7k.
