Alternator pulley clearance?????
I got a 95 ls in my 90 hatch and the alt pulley is too close to the chassis, just wondering if anyone else has/had this problem and how they would fix this, (any ideas that do not involve pulling the motor would be great)!!!!!!!! Thanks, O and I have searched this so flammers u got the day off
yep it's close no doubt about it. people hammer that area in. you definitely couldn't do it with the alt in the car....but i doubt you'd have to pull the engine.
why do you need more clearance? it rubs?

just uninstall the driver side mount and drop that side of the engine a little bit and that may help you get a little more power when you're hammering the well... i used a torch and heated yup the frame a little bit, and then made it a little easier to hit on.
Thanks for the ideas dudes but when we put the motor in we beat the **** ot of it so I dont think more hammering is an option right now!!! I was hoping to find out if anyone new where/if you could get custom length alternator belts made, cuz the next size down from the one I have right now is like 3.5 inches shorter and I only need one like 1 inch shorter this would make the alt. pulley shift towards the front of the car giving me plenty of clearance from the backside of the pulley to the chassis!!!
Under regular driving the clearance is fine (very f#cking close but never hits) but when I'm at the strip with my slicks the extra traction comes into play!!!
