Default Just picked up for $500, body work questions!

Hey hows it going, just wanted to share this joyeous occasion with everyone, I just picked up my first 90 dx for $500 CDN, wasnt a bad deal as the motor and tranny run smoothly, the only concern is the body/frame damage... just wondering if i can get some feedback as to what you think about it, and if you think its worth trying to repair it. i paid 500 for the car and the body shop is asking for 400 for a temporary fix ( he said he would rivet new pieces on ). does this seem reasonable? THANKS in advance!

P.S. has anyone ever seen my limited edition tropical decal? just wondering if was offered as an option by honda or if it was put on after.

goddamned canadian rusted out cars

Gotta hate em

$500 isnt a bad price for that car I guess, defientely not a steal though

You could cut all that rust out yourself and either pay someone to weld in some new pieces that you sawzall off some junkyard cars and give it a bit of bondo or just go straight with teh fiberglass work

You could do the fiberglass route for probably $100

The frame is fine BTW, thats all just cosmetic damage unless you didnt state something

i'd rather kill myself that have someone rivet panels on my car, fiberglassing that is'nt much better either, thats a very structural part of your car (rocker) and you really should be having new metal welded in, you can get a honda rocker for like $100 and its a snap to weld one in

who the hell would have a decal with pgm fi? lol.. yea that is a lotta rust. hope you can weld . My old hatch was worse than that though. the whole rockers were rusted and gone. dont be discouraged man, just shop around and do as much work yourself as you can. itl save you money.

Thats if honda even has them anymore. I know they dont carry anymore of the rear 1/4s and fenders. Well I think they had a few driver side quarters left but not many and nothing for the other sides and they arent making anymore so whats left is what is left. Unless you plan to keep this car for a very long time the money and time invested to fix those problems will be to much vs finding another chassis. Unless you can do the work yourself.

If its just to get around in then i wouldnt worry about it, but really no fix other then putting new metal oem parts in wont solve or fix the problem, everything else is to just cover it up so it doesnt look as bad, which will go away after a few years and your problem is worse.

Unless you fix it yourself, like others have stated. I would have left that car alone. Gona cost you a lot of cash money to get that repaired correctly.

Fiberglass will probably just end up rusting around where the fiberglass is matted to the sheet metal. You should get a new 1/4, rocker and door and or door skin. Rivets dont work the right way. If your skilled enough to do it yourself its not bad but its not fun. Good luck

Thanks for all the feedback, but im gonna leave it to the body shop for this repair, i just dont have the time and energy to try and tackle this, ill take pics of the car after the work is done, and well see from there.

In response to the questions, i dont have power windows, and its a 5 speed.

and i think ill be getting rid of the decals, or will they be a good eye grabber to take peoples attention away from the shitty wheel wells
