emergency brake
i have a 94 accord EX wagon, driving at speed 25 mph i pull the emergency brake it does not stop right away, it stop by reducing the speed, no short stop or anything like that. i have taken my car to a mechanic to check the intire brake system and they only say this cars don't stop like other cars when you pull the emergency brake and they slide to side like "drift". can wagon stop this way? i have replaced rotors and brake pads on this car twice
thanks for the tip, but the E-brake of this car has been adjusted ( about three clicks). can this E-brake be modifide, so it can stop the car right away instead of slowing it down?
the e-brake is not strong enough to stop the car immediately because if theh rear wheels were to lock the car would loose control and probably crash. Your tires also play a big role in the rear wheels locking.
i don't know you have seen the movie fast and furious(3) when they are drifting they pull the E-brake and the car slide to sides, i know is a movie, but I've seen car doing it with rotors and drums on the rear wheels. i know it is dangerous having the car stopping that way, you got know what you doing or be pro, but the whole point of this i would like to see my car doing it.
you are a 7head, no body is talking about believing what happens in that movie, the topic is E-brake, not power sliding with front wheel drive. i would like to know if there are some calipers or something that can make a car stop, not slowing it down. for example if you are seating on passenger side and your friend pass out while he's driving, would you like the car to stop when it wants to stop or when you want to stop, think about going down hill. i wouldn't care what happens to the car if slide or power slide, i want it to stop right at the moment or at least stop within 25-30 feet.

haha good luck with it, but as said, the ebrake isn't meant for being a drift king or to stop it, it's there just to ensure it's held in place, I highly doubt pulling an even modified ebrake on an accord would help you stop immediately or within 30 feet.
There is a brake pedal for a reason, jam your unconscience driver-friend's foot into it

wow...the OP is a complete dumbass...
first of all the E-brake is not meant to be used to stop the car. even if you do decide to use it to stop the car you will most likely lose control and crash.
but seeing that you dont want to stop your car, but instead relive the tokyo drift movie. the answer is yes, the accords e brake is strong enough to lock up the rear wheels and cause the *** to swing around. why sint yours doing it? well, you probably have chicken arms and cant pull it hard enough or your not going fast enough.
now go out and go do some crazy cool front wheel drive doriftos yo and let us know how many kids you killed

Well the emergency brake will never be strong enough to stop the vehicle like you have suggested so I don't think this thread really can go much further. I don't like seeing stupid threads and this one is pretty stupid. Furthermore, fwd cars are not supposed to slide the rear of the car around like a dog dragging its ***.

You will definitely stop the car using the handbrake when doing downhill. When you brake, the weight of the car is transferred to the front, giving you less traction in the rear. Using the handbrake to stop will lock up the back end (especially when going downhill), and will cause the *** to swing to one side, and since you're not sitting behind the wheel, there's no way to control the car.
From what you're saying, you don't care if you're doing downhill and the car slides out of control, and your passed out driver isn't doing anything to correct it? That seems like a sure way to crash. I don't see how you can not care about it.
