i went away for a month, came back went to start the car and it started but started to screech and cut off, a friend told me the belts dry, i sprayed some wd40 on the belts, it was running for a few seconds and when i rev it it starts to smoke, any body can help?

 

Your alternator probably died. Replace it.

First smack your friend in the head for telling you to spray wd40 on your belts. Then check your accessories - alternator, power steering pump and ac compressor (if you have power steering and ac). It sounds like one of them froze up while the car sat. Figure out which one and replace it.

i would have used vaseline.!!!! good luck man....i bought mugen belts on ebay and the guy told me they were good cause they were crispy when i got them they started to howl...really loud...haha...nah check for crispiness.

 

well i don't have power steering and my ac compressor has been bad since i bought the car (doesn't blow cold) but it been running for months, so could it be the ac or the allternator?

AC compressor may have seized. Pull off the belt and see if you can turn the compressor by hand.

the compressor would have to be engaged for that to make a difference...

I got cha. It's just something that I've heard of happening.

OP: Why not replace your belts & go from there? I can't imagine an alt & AC belt being more than $20-30 to replace them.

Then have your alternator checked at autozone or a place like that.

 

get new belts because the WD40 is gonna fugg up your old ones.
Screaching, eh. If you're sure that none of your belt driven accessories are making the noise check the timing belt tensioner.
