Timing belt wont tighten
hey guys i just got my head back from the machine shop and was installing it last night and began to run into problems. The timing belt wont tighten up enough. Everything was perfect, the crank was at tdc and the same for the cams, and the tensioner was set at 40-ft.lbs...... my question is, could there still be something loose or any ideas why it would still be loose
ohh forgot to mention, its an 98 ls , and yes i bought the right belt and then i took one off another ls, so that solution wasnt it.... thanks for your help guys

The tensioner should be loose when you are tightening the belt. You tighten to 40 lbf-ft after the tension is properly set. Search Google for "hondahookup manuals". You may just find the Helm for your car.
once you rotate it a couple teeth from TDC with the tension bolt slightly loose (like 180 degree from being fully torqued) the belt will tighten, what you want now is someone to apply a pressure on the crank as if they were going to rotate it a few more teeth but not actually moving it...just applying that pressure...Now tighten the tensioner bolt
