Has anyone port matched a ITR head while it was still on the block? I'm specifically talking about porting the exhaust outlets to match the header using the gasket as a guild. I was thinking of packing some cloth into the outlets to block metal shavings from entering. Has anyone done this? Is it fairly safe?

did that on my GSR. easy enough to do if you have the spare time.

 

ahhh, i would rather take it off to do it . just to make sure you dont get any shavings anywhere inside the motor.

 

Not advisable.

 

Rather than 'port matching', consider an anti-reversion step. Port matching tends to take out too much material when matching the gasket.
