Default Problems after clutch install

I just had a clutch put into my '91 hatch. Now there's a few problems. First, the check engine light comes on and the speedometer doesn't work. Also, I'm hearing a grinding noise when I shift 1-2 and 2-3. It only seems to happen when I rev over 3500 or so. Also, the pedal feels like **** to me. With my old clutch, the pedal was firm, and I could feel the pressure plate "pop" as it disengaged and the feel it again when it engaged. Now the clutch doesn't disengage untill the pedal is right on the floor, and it feels mushy. It seems to engage and disengage fine, but it makes it annoying to drive.

I checked for any external problems with the transmission. The speedo cable is plugged in, but it feels loose. It can be pulled in or out about an inch. It doesn't come completely out, though. I didn't see any other wires or sensors unplugged.

adjust the clutch cable so that it disengages before it hits the floor, the speedo doesnt work cause you probably did something to the speed sensor and the cel is, well, i dont know.

The clutch cable is fully adjusted. It won't get any tighter.

re-check everything step by step. as for the speedo cable the cable might be broken interally. (in the plastic covering)

How do I tell if the cable is broken.

Going back through the install step by step isn't really an option. I don't have the time or space to remove my transmission right now.

loosening the cable only makes it worse. With the cable loosened, the clutch doesn't disengage even with the pedal on the floor.

sounds stupid but you sure you put enough fluid back in the tranny? 2.5 quarts is the most mine will hold

I replaced the throwout bearing and pilot bearing with the clutch. I filled the tranny with GM syncromesh. It is full and shifts fine.

If the speedo cable broke, is it possible that part of it fell inside the tranny? Has this ever happened to anyone before?

As far as the grinding noise, It's not like a gear grinding sound, and I don't feel grinding through the shifter. It's just a light grinding noise from the tranny after I shift gears, but before I release the clutch. It only seems to happen when I shift at higher RPMs.

i really doubt that could happen, if it did break and fall off it would be a tiny piece of metal, and would have to make its way threw the vss befor it finds the tranny.
