replace just brake pads or rotors and pads
is there any reason i should replace the rotors.. or can i just replace the pads? I know if the rotors are warped or low that you can't reuse them, but if they are ok is it safe to re use them?
Are they trapped rotors or will they just pop off, any place that can turn them can inspect them, meaning they can check for runout, warpage and thickness, if those three pass then the first rule of turning rotors is only turn rotors that need turned, dont mess with a good thing and ignore Murphys Law.
they are "trapped" i guess.. whatever the hard ones to get off are. I don't think i would need new rotors, but im pretty sure i need new pads. I'm actually going to check the wear of them right now
If your brakes are working fine (no vibration when braking) I certainly would not change the rotors. Some people say you should turn the rotors at every pad change. I say if you turn them, even when they don't need turning, you are shortening the life of the rotors (making them thinner) each time they are turned for no good reason.
i recently jus changed my rotors and pads, and i had vibration when i braked. when ym mechanic was putting the rotors and pads on, he took the rotors and showed me and said thats why your car was vibrating when braking and he showed me how the pads were worn so close to the metal, and i figured if im replacing the pads, might as well do the rotors as well so you can keep track of everythin.
