does your c's shifter vibrate?

i'm using the c's shifter ( not the driving position version ), i hear it vibrating when i go above 7k rpm. i looked under the car and there's plenty of clearance between the shifter and the exhaust, plus all the bolts are tight. any thoughts? maybe the spherical bearing has gone bad?

yea mine does (driving position) around the same rpm's. kinda sounds like pennies in a tin can...doesnt bother me as long as the car shifts into gear.
i have the normal non-driving position one, had it on for atleast a year now. but luckily i dont have what you are describing...and im glad cause that would irritate the sh*t out of me. how long have you had it on and is it a new occurence? maybe its not the shifter itself.
Mine rattles up near redline shifts, I thoguht i might have screwed the install up but maybe those ball bearings are the cause? Let me know if you find how to fix it! It drives me nuts, but then again my whole car rattles!

so it's not just me then. i will try fixing it later, i was thinking of putting a small weight on the shifter linkage, just like the one found on the b16 shifter linkage. i'll let you guys know if it works
Check the shifter bushing, my friends EK did the same thing when he replaced them with ES bushings.
Once he changed it back to new stock ones, the rattle stoped.

ive changed mine to es, still happens. what ive noticed is no matter how tight i've done all the screws a bolts that make up the shift linakage and shifter.
there is still play at higher rpms atleast with mine. also pushing down on the shifter itself while driving and while its making this noise does quiet the rattle. and ive pushed it down as hard as i could and it has silenced it completely.
so the only other conclusion atleast with mine is that it could be the "shift lever ball holder" because that is the only thing as far as the shifter and everything that does have play before installation.
so to the original poster if you decide to remove the shifter, keep this part together and see if you can feel any play...
this is the only part that i have not done any testing to confirm the rattle. and like i said i know there is play between the shifter when its in that and the plate is put on.
so either putting washers on the inside of the top of the shift linkage ( where the ball of the shifter meets the top of the shift linkage hole) is the only thing i can see stopping this rattle if indeed this is the cause of it...

and placing a washer on the top of the shifter ball area. pushing it down, and the the bottom shift level ball holder plate should tighten up that area... ????

I've had the C's Short Stroke Shift for almost 6yrs; don't really notice the vibration that much, but then the whole car is normally buzzing at those rpms

cxshoe, yes i noticed that part had some play before i installed the shifter, that's why i made a comment about thinking the spherical bearing may have gone bad. let me know if your washer trick works

ok great yea i wont be doing anything to mine anytime soon. the car has been on lockdown in the back yard asleep since 9/2005.
yea also on yours i dont see how any wash or something can be put at the top of it to keep it snug on the shift linkage, where as the DP the spherical ball is incased in a flat protective cover so with mine i could put a washer and see if that fixes it. if indeed that is the problem it might not be.
but drive the car and then push down on the shifter and see if the noise changes. if it does as you push down then the only only place i can think of would be that section of the shifter and its relation to the shift linkage. basically the vertical movement of the shifter inside the shiftlinkage area causing the rattle at high rpm's.
also as far as your shifter is concerned, it could also be your shift linkage wearing down where the spherical ball goes?
common sense tells you the ball will wear down over time, but ive had the oem shifter in and it has never made any of that noise so im not sure if the spherical ball wearing down is even the problem. even though everything points to it being so.??????? hence why ive left mine as is. lol
