Default How are you guys rotating the crank pulley for TDC?

On my 5th gen, it looks like a very tight fit to get to the crank pulley bolt... Any suggestions on how I can rotate it so I can perform a valve adjustment without having to get under the car (Which a second person would be needed so you know you're at TDC).

get a friend with ***** and a big breaker bar.. have your friend hold the bar and socket on the pulley then you just kinda lightly jar the ignition.. dont start the car because your friend will die.. but just kinda nudge it a bit.. this will crack it for sure..

Remove the driver-side wheel (f22), and you can turn it with a large breaker bar or ratchet. There is a hole in the wheel-well, made just for this purpose. Good luck

Worst suggestion, EVER. Atleast I saw the humor in it

So basically...you gotta jack up the driver side, remove the wheel and get in there with a breaker bar? Crap.

Just got done doing valve adjustment on my old ladys 94 accord f22. I just jacked up the front drivers side a little, turned the wheel all the way to the left. Used 3/8s ratchet, 3 inch extention and a little muscle to turn the motor. There is a hole in the plastic guard for that purpose.

removing all the sparkplugs will make rotating the crank pulley by hand alot easier, just a lil tip

Good point, cd5. It's a lot harder to turn the engine with the sparkplugs in. Take them out, and it will be much easier.

yes, you don't have to remove the wheel, and you don't have to use a breaker bar, i did it with the wheel on but it was off the ground.

beer+anger+gf on the phone >breaker bar

i gurantee you u will effectively do nothing but tighten the bolt even more. if you havent realized our motors spin counter clockwise, so if u go adn try to use the starter to "loosen" the bolt all ur donig is tightening it more.

plus, the dude is not even trying to loosen his crank bolt, he's trying to do a valve adjustment. did you honestly even bother reading the post?
