ARP BOLTS?
I'm rebuilding my motor right now, i am getting the Head studs, but i was wondering should i replace my rod and main bolts too? I only got like 65k on it. I will be reving up to 9 grand.

rod bolts are a must. make sure the big ends are resized after, and a balance wouldnt hurt either. i hope you intend to use a stretch guage when you assemble.

you want the rods to all weigh the same within about a gram overall once the new bolts are in to account for the weight of different bolt lengths and any resizing / rechamfering. a step further is for the big ends to all weigh the same and the small ends to all weigh the same in addition to equal overall weight.. but tht requires a balancing stand and an assload of time. i remove weight with a rough beltsander and then shotpeen and jetwash after, personally.
point of the story.. eagles are worth every cent by the time you are done making stock rods better.

when i was all motor i was useing arp rod bolts $45 and i got the rods resized for the bolts $60.00. in general i was better off just geting some eagle rods which can be had for $260-$300

bolts are closer to $55 now and all the work to refinish the rods is more like $100-120 if you send them to someone who actually cares to do it right.
id save for eagles. its easy for a bad hone operator to send you back a rod with a tapered big end bore.

yes but you either need
A) after market pistons
or
B) OEM pistons that have a modified wrist pin
stick with stock rods, I got my ARP bolts pressed in with a fresh resizing of the rod for $60 for labor and $50 for the bolts, having pistons pressed on was another $60, so out the door for all machining it was $120 without the cost of parts and my rod bearing clearances were dead on each time

the eagles will accept a stock piston and pin (i just walked downstairs and verified on a D series, dont have B series eagles here right now) but the pistons wont have circlip grooves. theyre easy to put in though, ive done it before.
