Default amp install question...

Alright, i've got a 2006 honda civic, i'm hooking up an amp with an adjustable output adapter which converts speaker output to RCA pre-amp. I'm using this because I am keeping my factory radio installed. Since I don't know where to begin ripping apart the dash to get behind the radio, I am going to hook this output adapter up to the rear speakers in the trunk. The problem is, I don't know which wires are negative/positive. It just doesn't say back there. I've done some searches, called honda and car stereo places, nobody can help me. Told me to buy a wiring diagram book. Might as well just pay to get it installed!! The right rear speaker has orange and blue wires running to it and the left rear has brown and grey. Anyone know which wires are negative/positive?

Try http://www.installdr.com for your wiring colors... I know their diagrams won't cover the '06, but the colors are the same...

Also, if you're installing your converter back there, buy a short RCA cable to go from the amp to the converter... Don't just use a 17' cable and coil it up. That's one way noise can enter the system... Use a cable long enough to do a clean install, but not too long that you have to coil the excess...

Hmmm.. Maybe they did change wire colors for the '06s... I don't have a new chart... Maybe FCM does.. We'll just wait for him to post..

As far as the converter goes, you only need to ground the brown wires if you have noise issues....

And yes, the amp will power up without the converter connected..
