I recently got a Buddy club spec III exhaust installed on my 97 R but i was hearing rattling from under the car. I thought the exhaust was hitting the heat shield above it. So upon closer inspection of the exhaust i realized it was the springs over the slip-fit areas vibrating on the exhaust. I just wanted to know what other ITR members were got vibrating from the springs and what they did to resolve the problem.
I also wanted to know if anyone would consider removing the spring all together. not my 1st choice to do it, but just a thought.

i put a spec 3 on last saturday, i also have that rattly spring noise, its just as the revs fall off when you're downshifting,i have to say i'm very happy with it, loud but not as loud as i expected,
i was only thinking today that if i got stronger springs it might cut out the rattle but was'nt sure that i might f*ck things up if the exhausts movement was impeeded by stonger springs

I don't think band clamps will work well with a slip fit exhaust. I was thinking about some high temp sleeves like this. What do you guys think?

(Yes, you would have to cut them...)

I have that same exhaust on my GSR and I have teh rattles too. let me know which rubber bands work the best. Everyone else tries to convince me it's my stock header that is rattling.
what i usually do with those clamps is get some high quality vacuum line (not silicone crap) that is the same diameter as the spring coils, then slip it over the spring. it will isolate the spring from the exhaust and prevent it from rattling. make sure you get high quality line tho, the cheap stuff can melt if your egt's are high enough.

mine sticks out.
I had to cut my b-pipe to fit the length of my cat. i ordered the cat frrom IPS and it fit perfectly wit my invidia exhaust, but my bc3 was like 3-4 inches too long and now it fits perfectly. Cat size doesn't matter IMO when it comes to the tip sticking out.

i think that is the best thing to do unless he can find hangerz. make sure they put the hangers in a very good spot. i adjusted my hanger back and forth until i found the right spot.

Well back from the dead with a solution to my rattling noises.

Kinda annoying to hear these dumbass spring vibrate on the exhaust

BAM!!! problem solved! thanks to ROB for solution. He's my Hero!!!! ROB FTW!!!

*** the springs
Got the clamps on just in time for my 1st autox (after the autox)

a buddy's Gs-R (During the autox)
