Default AEM CAI installed, having problems

I just installed a AEM CAI w/ bypass valve in my 93 vtec lude. I am having issues now. Firstly when in low rpms when I let off on the accelerator the car still surges forward as if I was still on it. The RPM's seem to be a bit higher than before. Also at times at low rpms in first the car will seem to buck/ suddenly bogg down then pick back up again. There are only 3 things i can think of that would cause these sort of effects.

*Something to do with the vacuum lines. To install the Cai i capped off the vacuum nipple on the intake manifold that lead down to the intake solenoid. I also had to cap of the starting air valve due to the fact the Cai did not have a nipple for it.

*Right now my flex pipe has a rather sizeable hole in it. I have a tanabe g medallion catback. I am soon to replaces my stock exhaust manifold and dp with a megan 4-2-1 header.

*I just put in a whole bottle of Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment.

I don’t know if this is a problem, or cause for concern, but in first and lower gears when starting off, and lets say a step on the clutch to disengage the gear, there is a rushing air sound. I am assuming that is just the release of air that wasn’t used escaping.

I have checked all of the vacuum lines and do not see any tears or rips. I will recheck them along with the brake booster vacuum hose.

Any help would be appreciated.

I too have an AEM CAI, and I connected the vac tube from the original OEM air duct to the hole in the AEM CAI, near the TB (throttle body).
This also feeds a vacuum to the carbon cannister (if you still have it fitted).

This enables you to totally remove the air box solenoid and hosing.

the hole in your flex pipe might be causing you some running problems anyway.
Get that sorted out with a replacement part and then see if it has made any difference.

I cant imagine the fuel addittive making any difference.

The hole in the flex pipe might affect your lamba sensor readings. Have you had a CEL light warning eyt?

Hope it goes well.

Regards

Mike

thats how i have it set up. everything having to do with the original air intake has been removed with the exception of the intake solenoid which is connected to the wireharness and its vacuum nipples capped off. i will take a picture of everything tomorrow and post it. I think i am going to go down to parts store and buy a bunch of vacuum lines and replace all of the old ones in the car to make sure it isnt one of them.

Dunno what I did, or if it was my ECU slow on the uptake but all is well now. No more surging or bucking. I removed the air intake solenoid completely. Insted of capping off my starting air valve I put a screen over it so it can still pull air if it wants too. I also fiddled around with my egr and evap by taking off the black caps for a few moments. I dont know if that actually did anything, but I would like to think it did.
