Default b20 vtec finally assembled. but barely runs. is is because of my ecu?

so heres my setup. b20z with gsr tranny and gsr head.

my timing is good. ive triple checked and they all line up perfectly.

heres what i have checked:

compression - 225 PERFECTLY across the board (this makes sense i did alot of machine prep to the head)

pcv setup - pcv line running off of the prelude nipple on the back of the block into a catch can w/ pcv valve then into the intake manifold.

injectors - they all fire well. they came off of the motor that was runnign just last night.

ECU (this is where i think the problem is) im starting it with an obd2a LS (P75) ecu (crossing fingers my tuned ecu is in the mail)

basically what happens is i can start it up just fine. idles great but once i push the gas in it tries to rev and then just boggs out. after i let off the gas it just POPS with a HUGE backfire

could the p75 be the cause of this problem.

HONDA-TECH PEASE HELP!

is it possible that the crankshaft is a full 360 degree turn off? i know that the crankshaft spins twice for everytime the crank spins once

is the engine light on? if so check codes. i ran into alot of problems with my swap but by the time i worked out all the codes it ran great. you said its obd2 ... i think you need to hook it to a scanner. try autozone. if its still obd1 then you can jump a plug and the engine light will blink.

good luck

Your running in limp with that ecu. I HIGHLY recommend not driving til you get the proper ecu or you could damage the motor.

ok if that is the case. im not throwing any codes.

just curious but WHAT would make the ecu go into limp mode if there is no codes?

i do think it is running rich though

please elaborate on the logistics of limp mode and why it might be doing it?

for H-T

it's a B20VTEC not a ******* ls. do you think the ls engine timing and fuel maps are the same as a built engine? no they're not. DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE UNTIL IT IS RUNNING A CORRECT TUNE. unless of course you like to blow **** up

u dont even have a vtec ecu witch dont help the fuel maps are different, and u might wanna try larger injectors, it never hurts to go to like some 330's

i decided to go at the dizzy. i swapped over the coil and ignitor from the ls dizzy.

whilst doing that i noticed my dizzy cap teeth inside were very corroded so i hit themwith some emory clotch and wd 40.

MUCH better. im almost 100% positive a new one will take care of the issue.

btw for all you haters who say the p75 is a bad ecu to start the motor up are wrong.

it has very conservative timing and ample fuel tables.

woot for potentially finding out the problem

standard b series 240cc's. i figure if they are good enough for a hype r theyre good enough for my 2.0

on my p30 basemap modeled for 2000cc's i only reach a max of like 84% duty cycle at 9000rpm

i set fuel cut at 7200

my gsr motor with skunk2 stg 2 cams,sk2 manifold,ITR headers,310 injectors, did the same thing on a Obd1 ls computer...but it would run fine up to about 4k rpm then it would sputter then bog and then backfire and pick right back up...wouldnt recommend driving it...i had to drive my car cause passenger had wet shoes and she stepped on my computer????
