my vtec kicks in super late

Default my vtec kicks in super late

ok so i have a 99 civic si

vtec kicks in at 6k rpms

i have ctr cams
stock ecu


whats the problem??


o and i just got my car working good after it was stolen, vtec used to kick in at 5,600 or 5,500 rpm

usually stock tachs are off like 500 rpm's.

i do have a differnet gauge cluster but 500 seems like a hellava lot..lol

Maybe yours is really really off.

Mines off about 100 in one range and 350 in others.

And 6000 isn't "super late"

if it kicks in at 6 and i red at 8 then its SUPER later, since its a b16 and i have no power without it

just because you're in VTAK zone doesn't mean anything. My B16 with Skunk2 Stage 2s is set at 6000

Hell, my tach's off alot. My AFC read 8100 and the tach reads 9000.

NO NO its not drive it off a cliff.

Or make sure it really is 6k, there are many variables that could be causeing late engagement, one being your runing type r cams with the wrong map.

sounds like could be timing.. did you fix the timing and tune it or anything when you put the cams in?

could prolly be solved with either fixing the timing.. or getting a vtec controller... vafc?

you were right guys the cluster is about 1k off at redline...so it looks like i red at 9k...

thanks for the info...gonna buy a ctr one or ek4 cluster
