Default What problem does this sound like...

Well we fixed a problem I had with the starter, it took us all day but we got it, haha. Anyway, my car is getting fuel and spark and everything, but it wont actually start. It turns over, battery and starter is good. We think the cam timing is off, if it is we are gonna try to fix it tomorrow. We had to time the motor when it was out of hte car, I guess we screwed it up, haha. Any other suggestions?

Check the cam timing and make sure that is all right. Also check the distributor wiring.

yea i am pretty sure the distributor is all wired up good, since it is getting spark, but the cam timing is what i am guessing is off. Hopefully by the weekend it will be running, 3 weeks without it, gets restless, I drove my freinds CRX today, SOHC VTEC, I so wish I woulda gotten SOHC VTEC rather than my ZC, it feels way faster than my ZC. I just heard so much bad stuff about it, like unless you wire OBD1 you wont like it, his isnt, and it runs great. Anyway, enough ramblings from me, any other suggestions, or things to look for?

my car got spark as well, but would not start. the problem was a wire had seperated in the loom of the wiring harness to the distributer. put it together and the monster came alive

Well we are stumped. Were getting fuel. Were getting spark. We redid the timing.

Just for your information, we redid the motor with a 89 Teg crankshaft. Thats all we have changed. Cranks matched up fine. And its not turning over. Any suggestions help me out! lol

did you check the plugs to see if they have been fouled out yet? Maybe you are getting way too much fuel and just fouling out the plugs?you said the dizzy is getting spark though?so it should not be a faluty dizzy. I know this is REAL long shot but are the battery cables good and connected?and are your injectors leaking any fuel? Those are real long shots but i thought i would go ahead and ask.

you may be getting fuel to the rail, but are the injectors firing? try the starting fluid(just a little squirt) to see if it picks up. also, make sure your grounds from the battery are connected to the motor good. your negative should run from the batt to the body adn also to the transmission right on the clutch cable bracket. I had problems wiht mine, and realized it had a bad ground on the trans bracket. fixed it and it started up and ran perfect.

i had a similar problem to this. i was on the highway on third full throttle when suddenly the engine just died! anyways me and my friends got out of our cars and we checked all of those things, fuel , spark, and it cranks but won't start running.
i took it to a shop close to my house and they opened up the distributor cap and found out the screw that holds the rotor in place was loose and crawled out of its hole while i was driving. just thought this might help. good luck!

So we sprayed starter fluid in, and it didnt work. Then we tried retiming it, and we messed up this time, and it was shooting flames from the intake manifold, but we quit cause we were tired from it... Were gonna mess with it tomorrow. So we are figuring that the cam timing is the problem, or can be the problem..

We called up Jotech today and Kenny Tran answered the phone, pretty cool stuff, and we asked him if he was familiar with ZCs and he said yea, and we asked if the 89 crank and ZC crank are the same and he said it is. So we dont think that is the problem.

Can we have messed up with something when we put the motor back together that would make it not start? Damn this is the most frusterating time i have ever had with a car. You guys wouldnt understand, haha.
